I bought this scale because the reviews were high and I was not disappointed. If all you need is to weigh something, it does everything a battery powered scale does and as fast as scales costing > 4x more, and with nearly no maintenance. The main disadvantage is if you like to tare your recipes: you can't just keep adding ingredients and zero out the scale, then add more. You'll have to manually add the extra weight or empty the bowl after each load. Given how small the container is, tare really won't make sense making even meals for individuals. Note scales of these types can last forever; I have a cheapie spring postage scale that is almost 20 years old and working, that cost me $1 back then.

Cons
The plastic is fairly thin and cheapie feeling. This scale may not take a hard drop and survive.
White color is easy to dirty.

This scale is nearly, or probably, identical to a similar scale sold by Sears and by Salter Salter 021WHDR Mechanical Diet Scale White, 1-Pound at the very least.

I bought this scaled to weigh small packages and because it was inexpensive. When I sell something on eBay or elsewhere, I usually use Paypal to send the package (convenient and cheap shipment tracking), but I'd have to guess the weight of things (or go to crazy measures by trying to use my bathroom scale). This little guy takes care of that hassle. I can easily calibrate it (put it to 0 when nothing's on it) and get an accurate enough reading up to 1lb. That's no good for textbooks, probably, but great for DVDs or video games.

I really don't know or care about its accuracy with measuring food amounts, but it works fantastically for what I use it for.

The scale looks good, but won't measure with any precision. The tare knob works just fine, until the basket moves. Then, what was set to zero suddenly reads 3 ounces - bump it again, and it's suddenly negative two. I can estimate better than that. Maybe it was just my scale (everyone else seems happy with it), but I'm returning it.
