It's beautiful and completely functional. If you have a case for your iPad, I would suggest cutting one of the silicone inserts that come with it into a small "V" shape about 2 inches long (this will fit snugly into the half-circle part of the cut out in the dock. Using this custom insert, an iPad with a case (mine is silicone - may not work if you use a large case) fits perfectly, the glass is protected by the custom insert, AND the iPad sits back at an angle (so you can actually use it while in the dock). If you have a case and set your iPad inside the full silicone insert, it will sit forward, making it difficult to use.
Would have given this 5 stars, but I found out when taking this dock on a trip that the "stainless steel" finish scratches VERY easily if it comes in contact with something else metal. I would not suggest taking this thing on a roadie if you want to keep it pristine.

This stand is outstanding! The quality is excellent and the packaging was even nice. It holds the iPad2 or iPad 1 securely and looks great next to your iMac or out in the living room. Very high quality!

This is a beautiful stand, solid, and effective.The iPad feels secure and is held at a comfortable angle. My only complaint is that it states on the box that it will work with 'most clam shell cases.' The Apple Store salesperson told me that it would work with mine - WRONG. I honestly can't imagine it working with any case (maybe the very thin and flimsy Apple case). Still, it looks better without one.
